Arbonia Forster Holding AG, headquartered in Switzerland, is a supplier to the international construction industry. Its 6000 employees are active at 12 manufacturing facilities, and the 50 sales companies generate around a billion Swiss Francs of sales per year.

A portion of AFG’s business consists of the manufacture of door profiles and special doors, all of which are automated using drive systems by record. The doors at their headquarters in Arbon all feature drives provided by record.

Located very close to the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, the debis-Haus is located in a district known as Daimler City. Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, it was built in 1993, but the Daimler subsidiary debis didn’t move in until1997. Renamed Atrium Tower some 16 years later, it is considered to be one of Berlin’s most eye-catching buildings, and functions today as the home to news media channel N24.

Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, it is no longer a publicly accessible building. The entrances consist of twin radial sliding doors designed as interlocks with under floor drives. The doors have a diameter of 2900mm and a height of 2650 mm.

An under floor door drive enjoys a special status. The extra effort required in construction to install the drive unit below ground enables the creation of a free, airy architectural style, and therefore often plays a role in representative glass constructions.

Here at the impressive St. Pancras railway station in London, it makes perfect sense that our C 90 SU model has been chosen to provide access to the platforms in the terminal-like Euro Star zone.

The drive units are protected to IP67 norms and standards by highly effective seals preventing the ingress of dirt, dust and the occasionally aggressive cleaning fluids of floor cleaning machines. They also defy the rain, even the English sort!

This is an urban hospital in Luxembourg belonging to a group that includes four specialist hospitals. The total budget amounts to about 300 million Euros.

The hospital features record CLEAN K1 hygienic sliding doors in automatic and manual versions. The models that do not feature seals around the profile edges to ensure a hermetically airtight seal are mainly fitted within the airtight zones. Their durable surfaces enable easy, thorough cleaning.

Located near the centre of Geneva, the Clinique des Grangettes enjoys a privileged, quiet location. Its main specialties are maternity, special surgery, cardiology, oncology, paediatrics and radiology.

record has equipped the Clinique des Grangettes with hermetically sealing doors with additional fire protection features. In addition to preventing airflow by fitting seals around the edge of the entire profile, the doors are provided with additional seals which swell in case of fire, thus preventing flames or smoke from spreading for at least 30 minutes. To enable the door to shut to prevent the spread of fire during a power failure, the door is fitted with a counterbalance. In the event of a power failure, the drive unit, attached by a magnet, is decoupled, the door leaf with its counterweight obeys gravity and uses its energy to close the door safely and securely.

The children’s’ clinic at the University Hospital of Erlangen treats pre-mature and newborn babies, children and teens of all ages. To ensure optimal care, depending on the medical condition and age, it has various departments and clinics staffed by experienced paediatricians, equipped with modern diagnostic and therapeutic tools and techniques. They work closely with highly qualified nurses, physiotherapists and educators for the health of its young patients.

Also playing a part in the patients’ recovery, the hospital features several dozen record CLEAN K1-A hermetically sealing automatic doors. The doors stand out with their large glass surfaces, which flood the building and fill the hallways with natural light. Blinds that close at the touch of a button are fitted to the glazed areas to create completely private zones.

The Hug Bakery was founded in Lucerne, Switzerland, when Josef Hug-Meyer, who was later to lend the Hug rusk (or Zwieback) his name, started a bakery back in 1877. Even today the company is family-owned and is now in its fifth generation. Hug maintains 10 branches throughout Switzerland, of which the latest was opened in the Birmersdorferstrasse in Zurich in 2013.

BMW Hollenstein in Aesch near Basel fully utilizes innovative technology. Completed in 2012, the operations centre uses only pioneering, sustainable infrastructure. The fully electric powered BMW models i3 and i8 are recharged at a special station prominently situated by the entrance. The electricity comes from a powerful solar energy plant located on the top of the roof. Any surplus electricity is fed back into the grid.

Little wonder, then, that only doors of usual design and construction were suitable for a building such as this. Again, innovation has found its way here too, enabling us to build one of Switzerland’s first record THERMCORD systems into the entrance porch.

Many record doors are featured in Munich, the most unusual of which is the three-wing revolving model shown here, which was built around a concrete column.

The original "Curhaus" dating back to 1899 also belonged to the luxury class of city spas. Located on the western slopes of the Adlisberg between the pulsating city and the invigorating countryside, it provides a magnificent view of the city of Zurich, the lake and the Alps.

City Gate is as much a part of the modern Düsseldorf skyline as Kniebrücke, Landtag, Rhine Tower and the new port skyscrapers. The new skyline presents the latest developments in modern Düsseldorf in terms of architecture and cityscape projects, not forgetting the historic old town with its river Rhine promenade.

Among others, City Gate provides offices for the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister. A special feature of the 80-meter-high office tower is the central hallway, which measures some 65 meters in height, and is lined with offices. The building determined by this arrangement has the character of a gatehouse, which explains its name.

We supplied the entrance consisting of two three-leaf revolving doors that stylishly blend into the airy steel and glass facade. The revolving doors also support generously dimensioned curved porches that become especially eye-catching at night with their soft lighting.

The private bank Merck Finck & Co.was founded in 1870, and is headquartered in Munich, Germany. It has 305 employees, and has since 2012 been a subsidiary of KBL European Private Bankers, and thus owned by Holding Precision Capital in Luxembourg, who also represent the interests of private investors from Qatar.

Discretion is one of the most important features of the banking industry. Appropriately, at their Munich headquarters, an under-floor drive unit has been fitted to the heavy swing door, doing its work silently and discreetly.

The Berlin headquarters of Deutsche Bank are located in the Charlottenstrasse, which is also home to the Bank’s Kunsthalle or art gallery, and record products are well represented here. The sandstone building, built in the nineteen twenties, features three door systems abreast, giving the entrance a new and attractive face. This look creates an aesthetic tension between the use of modern materials on the one hand, and the historical aspects of the building on the other.

It comprises more than 600 companies and about 75,500 employees, so it is one of the most important business locations in the Paris region. It handles 66 million passengers annually, making it number eight in the world.

To supply the main entrance door, record was chosen. A huge and impressive record revolving entrance door some 6 meters in diameter is the first thing visitors to the Marin Centre see.

Valencia Airport is located in Manises, 8 km west of Valencia, in Spain. In time for the America's Cup in 2007, this international airport was modernized and expanded, and received, among other new features, a new terminal building.

Again, the tried-and-tested record FlipFlow TWIN models are installed here, smoothly controlling the flow of passengers and preventing unauthorized access to the restricted zones.

Virtually all the automatic doors here were supplied by record, lending the building a co-ordinated appearance and ensuring cost savings in maintenance.

The renowned Skytrax scheme regularly ranks Zurich among the best 10 airports in the world. The family of airport businesses contains approximately 270 companies and employs more than 25,000 people.

Zurich Airport is located close to our Fehraltorf headquarters. But this is irrelevant to its operator, who puts far greater emphasis on the long life, exceptional reliability and, most important, high safety level of our products. A perfect example is the installation of several one-way security access systems of the record FlipFlow type. For one of the world’s most exclusive brands at one of the world’s most exclusive addresses record supplied the main entrance door.

Opened in January 2013, the Rolex Boutique is run and maintained by the long-established family business of Carl-Friedrich Bucherer. The heavy security door, finished in 24-carat gold, was fitted with a modified underground drive to ensure reliable but silent operation despite its enormous weight.

In spring 2015, the Spitzacker shopping centre in Urdorf (ZH) was reopened after considerable renovation and extension. The retail area has been totally transformed and has almost doubled in size, with numerous new tenants. There are 13 new stores housed in the complex, built in the style of a bright, spacious mall with a glass roof.

All shop entrances feature record THERMCORD sliding doors with thermal insulation. The benefits of the THERMCORD model are very clear, as it plugs one of the last gaps in a building’s thermal insulation. During the day the doors provide regular, reliable service, and after closing prevent heat loss, or heat penetrating into a space requiring controlled air temperatures.

The diameter line is a railway track that passes through the city of Zurich, describing a wide arc from Altstetten via the main station all the way up to Oerlikon. Its centrepiece is the underground passage starting at Löwenstrasse Station, which was opened to time with the Swiss railways timetable change on 13 December 2015.

The construction of the station at Löwenstrasse gives Zurich’s main station new and additional access to the so-called Gessnerallee Passage, which links together the two underground transit stations Museumstrasse and Löwenstrasse, as well as the platforms on the ground floor. At the same time, new retail spaces have been created, expanding the ShopVille RailCity shopping mall by the addition of 44 new retail outlets. As record products are already well represented in the old part of the Shop Ville-RailCity, we received orders to supply entrance doors for the stores in the new part of the shopping mall, which is finished in steel, concrete and pale granite.
